This year T-mobile is planning to launch a new type of “pay as you go” mobile broadband service known as “pay per use”. This new option allows users to top-up their mobile broadband service without impose of any time limits. In the current pay as you go service the top-ups will expire after a certain period of time if you didn’t use it.
Currently the only mobile broadband operator in the UK that offers a similar type of “pay per use” option is Vodafone, with their TopUp and Go mobile broadband plan. T-mobile moves into the “pay per use” option place a direct competition with Vodafone.
To attract new customers to sign up mobile broadband, T-mobile are going to introduce couple of few additional options this year, such as pay-per-day/week/month options. Customers can buy their dongle and pay for usage. Currently the typical mobile broadband speed at T-mobile network is between 1 to 2Mbps, but it is achievable to reach between 2 to 3Mbps. Depends on the area coverage, in cities or urban areas, you can easily reach up to 4.5Mbps.
There are still no yet of confirmation on the pricing from T-mobile. Currently Vodafone charges £39 in their TopUp and Go plan that includes dongle and 1GB of data. There are unlikely to see the price offering by T-mobile are going to be more than that, the company will certainly finding way to compete with Vodafone pricing.
