WRITE A REVIEW ON NOKIA N97

The Nokia N97 is more than just an upgraded Nokia N96. The slide-out QWERTY keyboard and refined touchscreen make the N97 its own model. The 5 megapixel camera has Carl Zeiss optics,a GPS, WiFi capable and 32GB of on board memory. According to Nokia this is the most flexible and powerful hand held device available.

The Nokia N97 does offer more features than most. The N97s new design concept is impressive even considering Nokia’s boastful claims. It really is much more than a phone. Virtual keyboards are often difficult to use so the QWERTY keyboard allows you ease of use while texting, using e-mail or writing in files making all uses easier here than on an old-style cell phone. The touch screen will demand most of your attention. It measures 3.5 inches across, the same as the Apple iPhone 3G S, but it has a higher resolution, at a massive 640 x 360 pixels. The touch screen is a resistive type, similar to other Nokia models, and the menus can be sluggish in responding. This is a common detriment in other previous N series phones. It can feel a little awkward compared to other touch screen systems you may be used to.

The home screen of the phone is fully customizable. You can view anything you would expect on a home computer screen like the date & time, your inbox, the weather forecast, RSS feeds, Facebook and quick links to your favorite web pages. Tap any web icon the chosen pages open up. There are easily recognizable prompts to scroll and zoom making viewing pages on the web a breeze. Your download speed is very fast with a 3G HSDPA or Wi-Fi connection. As with anything, your speeds will be determined by your internet service. Flash videos will load effortlessly with the support running underneath the system.

With a built in GPS receiver along with the supplied Nokia Maps program, you can find your location, add geo-tags to photos and find directions to your final destination. Also included are multi media city guides and an actual compass feature as well. This will help on any outside activities where you need to know what direction to travel. A final touch is the voice activated driving software included for the GPS.

There are numerous applications available for download and many are free of charge for the Nokia N97. You can use Nokia’s Ovi store to download games, videos, other content, music and more that are compatible with the Symbian operating system.

While the camera is the same as what is in the N96, you can’t go wrong with Carl Zeiss optics for picture quality and clarity. The camera can take the place of the average stand alone digital camera available for the same price as the N97 under normal light.

The Nokia N97 has so many features it’s hard to describe them all. With the portability, camera and music player functions it’s much more than a computer. Couple of final notes on Nokia N97: The N97 comes with 32MB of resident memory. You can add up to a 16 MB SD card for up to 48 MB of memory for photos, videos or music files. Nokia’s battery is said to have up to 6 hours of talk time along with over 7 hours of standby time. You shouldn’t have any issues running out of a charge under normal use.
